Senior Bios
Graduating seniors and their parents,
(Sorry, I don't have a way to exclude non-senior diver parents.)
Below are some sample bios from NVSL. Please use this as a guide for creating yours.
PETER FLECKENSTEIN (DONALDSON RUN)
This is Peter’s 10th year on the Donaldson Run dive team, and his 4th year as a coach. Peter has been the divisional champion for his age group 5 times in his career. He has also attended All-Stars several times, placing 2nd in Intermediate Boys in 2014, and 6th in Senior Boys in 2018. Peter wants to especially thank Coach Brian for being his role model ever since he joined the team back in 2008. He also wants to thank our wonderful team reps, along with all of the amazing parents. Peter absolutely loves coaching, and enjoys getting to know all these wonderful kids better each summer. Diving will forever be a part of Peter’s life, and he plans on returning to coach for many summers to come. Peter will be taking a gap year this fall before attending the University of Delaware in the fall of 2020. He plans to major in social sciences while attending. Go Blue Hens!
TROY YOUNG (RAVENSWORTH FARM)
Troy (AKA Turbo) Young has been a member of the Ravensworth dive team for 12 years and coach for 3 years. Troy's highlights include making divisionals, all-stars, receiving the high point award, and winning the monster victory trophy. Having such amazing friends, coaches and family pushing and cheering me on along the way - thank you to all of you! Message to future divers: The most important thing in diving is having fun and winning! Always be as involved as you can and remember THERE IS NO FEAR IN THIS DIVE WELL! Future plans: Attending the Catholic University of America and studying biomedical engineering on the pre-med track hoping to work in the medical field. Troy is the recipient of the 2019 NVSL President’s Award.
LUKAS BROWN (SLEEPY HOLLOW BATH AND RACQUET)
Lukas Brown graduated this spring from Bishop O’Connell High School, where he played baseball, and also swam and dove his senior year. He joined the SHBR Dive Team last summer, and returned this year as both a Senior Diver and Assistant Coach. At Bishop O’Connell, Lukas was also the Vice President of the school’s Best Buddies Chapter, a group that conducts all kinds of activities and raised money and awareness for children with intellectual disabilities – he considers Best Buddies the best time of his career this far! Lukas will continue his education at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), studying Political Science and Foreign Affairs.
RYKER STOKES (SLEEPY HOLLOW REC ASSOC)
Ryker has been a diver on Coach Anita’s teams for over 10 years, at SHBR, SHRA, and Gonzaga College High School. He often won first place over the years, and in high school each year, he helped Gonzaga win championships, including it’s “3-peats,” 3 championships in a year. Ryker has placed 2nd and 5th in the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim Dive League (WMPSSDL) championships with 28 schools; in 2018, he scored 310 for 11 dives. He placed 2nd in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, with a score of 184 for 6 dives. At SHRA last year, he placed second in the Divisional meet and made it to All-Stars. Ryker also was a top gymnast for many years, last competing as a level 10 for Capital Gymnastics and National Training Center. He typically placed in the top 5, and qualified for Virginia State meets and the Men’s Region 7 meet each year. He has won 1st place in vault in both the State meet and Men’s Regional meet, which includes the top gymnasts from 7 states. He graduated from Gonzaga College High School and will be attending the University of Denver. Although he was recruited by dive coaches, he did not want to commit to diving in college. He was once recruited to join the US Ski Team’s aerial development program – who knows, he may return to skiing in Colorado (his parent sincerely hopes it’s not aerials). Plenty of options in his future.
OLIVIA RUMMEL (WAKEFIELD CHAPEL)
Olivia Rummel has been diving at Wakefield Chapel since 2009 when she was 9 years old and has many great memoires as a diver and coach. She dove for WT Woodson all 4 years of high school making it to states every year. She wants to thank all her coaches who made her love the sport, and all the divers she has coached over the past few years. She also wants to thank the Wahoo team reps and other coaches she was able to work with for teaching her so much and helping to create a spirited and fun team. She is sad this is her last year diving for the Wahoos and wishes them all the best in the years to come. Olivia looks forward to attending Virgina Tech in the Fall to pursue a degree in Biology.
