Signup for the First Meet

Dive Families,

Our first A Meet will be at home on Tuesday, June 21. For our newer divers, please know that not everyone competes in A Meets. Coach Alex will determine which divers are ready for this meet and let you know well in advance. Please refer to Dive Meet 101 for some dive meet FAQs: https://shbrdive.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-101.

We are asking for volunteers to sign up to help through the SwimTopia system. To see what is needed and where you might be able to pitch in, go to the Sign Up page: https://shbrdive.swimtopia.com/swim_meets where you will see the first two meets with Job Signup in green. Click on that icon and then select the volunteer and you will see what jobs there are and which are available. In general, we will need the following:

Announcer = this is the person starting the meet and announcing all the dives, we usually have someone with experience doing this

Head Table Worker = this person confirms both team's scores and ranks the places for each age group; this role needs an experienced table worker.

Judges = check dives for accuracy and completion, then provide a score; NVSL training is preferred but not required for this role.

Table Workers = these folks help record and compute the scores; this is a great way to learn the ropes

Referee = ensures dives meet requirements, provides oversight for the judges; the referee must have current NVSL certification

Please take a look and help out if you are able for the Tuesday A Meet. We need the same roles for the Thursday B Meet. B Meets are not only a good way to introduce new divers to meets, they are also great for new volunteers to see how meets are run.

Take a look and sign up for the meet positions for June 21 and 23. I will be out of town and unfortunately unable to attend the June 21 meet, Kendra Martin has graciously offered to run this meet.

If you have any concerns about the meets after reading the 101 above, please contact me [email protected] before Monday at noon, or Coach Alex at [email protected] after that.

Thanks,

James
